Video Assessment

What are the Benefits of Video Assessment?

The Video Assessment program provides a vehicle for facilitators to gain a quality, third- party assessment of their facilitation skills without having to complete the entire Certified Master Facilitator process.

  • Individuals can use the Video Assessment to gain an independent rating of their skills.
  • Organizations can use the Video Assessment to rate the skills of their own in-house facilitators.
  • And, for those who continue to seek certification, the Video Assessment satisfies a major segment of the Certified Master Facilitator program.

How are Facilitators Rated?

Videos submitted for rating must meet stringent requirements as described in the next section. Facilitators will have their performance rated by two assessors against the Master Facilitator Competencies using a 5-point scale. Facilitators will be rated as follows:

  • Advanced – Score 4.0 or higher in at least five of the six competencies
  • Proficient – Score at least 3.0 in all competencies, but not 4.0 in at least five
  • Intermediate – Score less than 3.0 in one area
  • Developing – Score less 3.0 in more than one area

    • Please note: the participant envelopes must NOT be opened by the facilitator. The envelopes must be opened, in the view of the camera, by the participants during the session, as described in the videotaping instructions.
    • The envelopes contain specific instructions for behaviors the participants are to exhibit during the session. These behaviors will help the assessors get a better understanding of your abilities to deal with a variety of situations.
    • It is imperative that you, the facilitator, not open these envelopes nor see the contents of the envelopes prior to the end of the session.
  6. Recruit participants and a videographer to handle the videotape equipment.
